Community Involvement & Giving
Round-Up at the Register Drives
To bring special attention to a timely cause, Fiddleheads will occasionally hold fundraising campaigns for local organizations called Round-Ups. These drives give Co-op guests the opportunity to round up the total of their transaction to the nearest dollar, with the difference between their original total and that next even dollar amount being donated to the particular cause we're featuring. (Of course everyone also has the option of donating as much as they'd like!) This unique call to action has allowed us to raise support for many important causes including the Coast Guard Academy's food pantry during the government shutdown of 2019, the Connecticut Bail Fund during the protests in the wake of George Floyd's murder and Step Up New London's relief fund for local families disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Neighborly Nickels Program
Bringing together our mission to promote sustainability and support local organizations making positive change in our community Fiddleheads brings you our Neighborly Nickels program. Each time you bring a recycled shopping bag, your cashier will hand you a wooden nickel to donate to one of three featured organizations. These community organizations change every three months and focus on organizations in and around New London County working for social change, environmental protection and resilience, as well as animal welfare and food justice. In-Kind Donation Requests
At Fiddleheads we invest in our community as the community has invested in us. Each year we receive many requests for donations from various organizations – all with valid and pressing needs - and we do our best to bestow small gifts of support upon the many organizations, schools, and houses of worship that help make Southeastern Connecticut such a strong and vibrant place to live. To request a donation of a gift card or goods for your organization or event, please fill out and submit our Donation Request form. We kindly ask for three weeks lead time to process these requests. 1. Our focus is to give support to local organizations who work directly in Southeastern Connecticut rather than national organizations. Priority is given to organizations whose goals are consistent with the objectives of the co-op (food justice, sustainability and environment, social causes, etc.) 2. Donations from Fiddleheads are usually in the form of gift certificates or product such as refreshments for an event or a raffle prize. Please be as specific as possible as to what you are looking for from us. We do not make cash donations except through the Neighborly Nickels program. 3. Please give at least three weeks notice for any donation request. |
